Description

This particular processor is a 400Mhz from a Dell Dimension computer. The heatsink was meant to be used with a plastic shroud and a fan that was mounted on the back of the computer case. The shroud made cool air flow through the heatsink fins and outside the case. This design was good for quiet operation but at a cost of size and weight. Its made from anodized aluminum.

Intel Pentium 2 processor was designed between 1994 and 1996. Available in speeds from 233 MHz up to 450 MHz. Speeds of 233, 300 and 333 Mhz used 66 Mhz front side bus (FSB). Speeds of 350, 400 and 450 Mhz used 100 Mhz FSB. The packaging of this processor is called Single Edge Contact Cartridge (SECC). The connection on the motherboard is called Slot 1. All Pentium 2 processors have 32K L1 and 512K L2 cache. A heatsink mounts in the various holes seen on the back of the processor. I own several of these processors and actually used the 300 and 450 Mhz model for several years in late 1990s and early 2000s.
